Beginning Workshop Work
We are the Marin Academy Junior Project 2009 group for Housing and Homelessness [within Economics], with emphasis on the ways in which the current economic crisis is affecting these two issues in Marin County, CA. Our research is based out of San Rafael, CA, and will extend throughout various cities in the Marin County/San Francisco Bay Area.
TO DO- Get information on real estate trends from past 5-10 years- Contact and interview real estate agents in the area- Get information on current real estate situation. Census reports, etc. - Look at what sort of income an individual needs to have in order to be able to keep his/her house/apartment SOCIAL GROUPS TO CONSIDER— IS THE MARKET BIASED?- Immigrants(especially focusing on documented v. undocumented)- Race: Whites, A.A.'s, Latino- Marital status- Educated v. uneducated and employed v. unemployed
MAJOR FOCUS?- Look at info on housing/homelessness in CA and U.S. for the past 10 years, and this year
- Look at info on housing /homelessness in San Rafael for past 10 years, and this year
INTERVIEWS— POTENTIAL INTERVIEWEES- Real estate agents - Those in homeless shelters and the people that run those shelters
